Equine Laparoscopy
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure. Compared with open surgery, the benefits of laparoscopic surgery include smaller incisions, reduced postoperative pain, shorter recovery times, with a faster return to normal activities. For horses, laparoscopy is used most commonly to remove ovaries from mares with ovarian tumors or with behavioral problems. It is also used in cryptorchid stallions to remove retained testicles.
