Small Animal Imaging

Dr. Martin Vidal and Dr. Fabio Aristizabal MRI scan

At Cave Creek Equine™ Sports Medicine & Surgery, we extend our expertise beyond equine care to offer advanced MRI imaging services for small animals. Our Universal Vet-Grande MRI scanner is specifically designed to accommodate both small animals and horses, ensuring high-quality imaging.

Why Choose MRI for Your Pet?

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that provides exceptional detail of soft tissues, making it invaluable for detecting conditions such as:

  • Neurological disorders (e.g., seizures, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries)
  • Musculoskeletal issues (e.g., ligament tears, joint abnormalities)
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Tumors and masses

Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI does not use ionizing radiation, offering a safer alternative for detailed internal imaging.

What to Expect During an MRI Procedure

To ensure accurate imaging, pets must remain completely still during the MRI scan. Therefore, anesthesia is administered to keep your pet calm and motionless. Our experienced technicians handle anesthesia for routine cases, while a trained veterinarian oversees anesthesia and monitoring for critical patients.

The MRI procedure typically lasts between 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the area being examined. We recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to your appointment to complete necessary paperwork and allow our team to prepare your pet for the procedure.

Our Commitment to Comprehensive Care

Our facility is equipped to provide comprehensive diagnostic services, ensuring your pet receives the highest standard of care. By offering MRI imaging on-site, we minimize the need for external referrals, allowing for prompt diagnosis and treatment planning.

If your pet is exhibiting symptoms such as unexplained pain, neurological issues, or mobility problems, our MRI services can provide critical insights into their condition.
